So yes. Work is going OK, a bit busier today than expected for a wednesday due to having crisis presentations in triage (they call the team registrar not the duty doctor which is stupid, since I am often in clinics, and the inpatient reg seeing her list of patients), but meh...

So... I am putting together my trip to China and Japan. I think I will be able to pay off my ticket soon, so that will get bought, then I plan to do the following:
- find ticket from HK to Shanghai
- find ticket from Shanghai to Beijing
- find ticket from Beijing to HK
- consider paying for the above.
- buy Japan Rail Pass
- hope fervently that auntie and uncle will be in Tokyo so I can live in their way spanky pad (near Shibuya, Ginza, Roppongi) - :)
- pay for accom in HK and China

Don't know how much of that is doable before the trip though. I did buy a pretty good travel guide to China, a Dorling Kindersley (www.dk.com) and Rajan told me he got the Japan one (curse whoever has my maps and stuff and hasn't told me, if that's the case) and some language guides. I don't like lonleyplanet ones as much (the books) because they're all text (essentially). The DK ones have great pictures and schemas of main tourist sites so you can get around places just with the book. LP do make very good city maps though and I need to get ones for HK/Tokyo/Shanghai/Beijing.
